Bellroy 3 Card Phone Case, good, not great

As a quick card access cell phone wallet, the Bellroy 3 Card Phone Case is very competent. Clean lines and easy to use, the only downside is you can't wireless charge and the button cut outs are a little deep.

Today’s review is on the Bellroy Phone Case 3 card wallet. Since I own an iPhone 11 Pro, I will be reviewing cell phone cases that work with this particular model. For compatibility with other phone models, they can be found in the notes on the YouTube video, or the manufacturer’s websites.

The product comes packaged in a very typical retail case. It has a transparent clam shell with the instructions included in the back. As with all Bellroy products, they come with very specific instructions for each particular product.

The exterior is made from leather with a rubberized polymer under the door type flap. It also has microfiber lining. There are two features on the interior which include a SIM slot and pin push to get the SIM out. Hopefully in the future, with eSIMs, this particular feature will no longer be needed. On the exterior edges there are cutouts for the power button and volume control, as well as a cutout on the back for your camera. These cutouts will all vary depending on the model of phone you are using. The depth of the volume control is a bit inconvenient, as it takes quite a bit of effort to push the buttons on your phone. There is a small flap style door on the exterior which opens up and provides space for your cards.

The capacity for cards is strictly three non-embossed cards. There is absolutely no way of fitting any additional cards. The precision of the card insertion is exact which means it is very easy to get your three cards in and out easily.

Due to the flex polymer on the hinge of the door case, it is supposed to allow thousands of uses without breaking. The hinge is the most vulnerable point. Another feature is when the door flap is left open, it acts as a phone stand.

The Bellroy 3 Card Phone Case is designed in Australia and made in China. Bellroy’s wallets are all made in India, but the majority of all cell phone cases in the world are made in China. The leather on the back is made from environmentally certified premium hides. The microfiber lining is an environmentally sourced product and is a great choice for durability.

The depth of the case is needed for the card storage area. However, it almost looks like a battery case which seems to be a common complaint. Due to the placement of the card compartment in the back, it will not work with wireless charging. I understand this, but I like to charge my phone wirelessly. The case frame doesn’t seem like it could handle a drop impact, so I would be worried about it cracking. However the face of the case has a lip around the edges. Therefore, if your phone is lying face down and drags or slides, it will help protect the face enough to prevent damage to the front of your phone.

As with all Bellroy products, it is well designed and manufactured. With little effort, this wallet will provide an exceptional level of service for some time.

For the final score: For quality, a 4, price at 2, features, a 3, usability, a 4 and perception a 4. That gives us a final score of 3.5 out of 5.
