Today’s review is on the Craft & Lore Insider wallet. Craft & Lore produces one of our highest rated wallets on Walletopia and performed a carry test on the Port wallet. The company continues to grow in the handmade leather goods market due to their ethos of simple elegance with no nonsense functionality and the Insider wallet is no different. For the packaging, Craft & Lore could have gone with a simple plain shipping envelope, but they went the extra mile to draw you into their brand by this wonderful design on the envelope. They have stamped their logo onto the interior card slot and have also included a business card inside.

For this particular Craft & Lore Insider wallet, there is a quick access card slot on the left hand side of the exterior. Directly on the left hand side of the interior is another card slot with an additional pocket behind that. On the right hand side of the interior is another pocket which was made from leather being folded over.

I was able to insert five cards into this wallet. Two were placed in the front quick access slot and three in the inside slot. I also successfully inserted five slips of US cash folded once. The 100 and 50 Euro along with Yen bend a bit, but anything under the 20 Euro works just fine. The minimalist carry on this is four and probably eight cards once it’s broken in. The company recommends up to twelve cards and eight to ten bills.

This wallet is made and designed in the beautiful area of Coeur d’Alene Idaho in the United States. It is saddle stitched by hand which provides additional reinforcement. There are raw edges which look fantastic. Something that is really nice, is the contrast between the layers of leather and the folded edge of the leather. This adds contrast and texture to it. It is a very functional design and visually pleasing. There is no RFID which is an added bonus. This is a well-made, handmade, quality leather wallet.

From a usability perspective, it is a great product to use. It is soft to the touch and smells fantastic. One point I want to make is on the exterior card slot. Users of this particular wallet have noted that in order to keep cards firmly in place, you need to have two cards inside in order to prevent cards from possibly slipping or falling out.

The wallet measures 4.25 x 3 x 0.5″ and weighs 57 grams.

You really can’t help but love this wallet for its genuine quality. The company is all about the quality of the products they create by hand. Their logo is a Swedish ax, which represents one of the oldest tools of our ancestor makers. All of their wallets are made by hand. They offer great customer support. The owners of this company love their customers and customers love them.

For the final score: for quality a 5, price a 3, features a 3, usability a 3 and perception a 5. That gives us a final score of 3.9 out of 5.
