In this review, we have the Flowfold slim wallet, the minimalist wallet as they call it. It is available in four classic and four limited colors. This is a very simple, yet cool sailcloth material wallet.
This wallet has nothing on the top or the back other than the one card slot. It has a capacity of six to eight cards, and it can take notes folded in thirds or fourths. It utilizes a sustainable material, which is quite nice. In addition, using sustainable material, the Flowfold sailcloth minimalist wallet is super light and very durable. It measures 4.1 x 2.7 x 0.05” and weighs five grams only.
In the insertion test, we inserted four cards and two slips of cash. Its minimalist carry is three and reasonable is six. The company recommends six to eight cards, in addition to cash. Surprisingly, it has quite a bit of room. To open it up, you only need to pinch it, and from just taking a look, you can get a feel for all the room it offers. Seven cards can slip right in without any problem. There is no unnecessary stretch involved, but it can increase its capacity. From a quality perspective, it is designed and made in the United States. The fabric is sailcloth with X-Ply, which is apparently pretty strong stuff.
The colors and patterns may vary due to the unique nature of the recycled materials used. The recycled sailcloth fabric is very light, it even floats on water, it is incredibly durable and the edges are secured with sewn ribbon, which essentially outlines the fold a couple of times. The folded sailcloth keeps it nice, clean, and neat. It’s very simple to use, the only concern is that cards can come out easily when shaken, especially when thrown into a bag.
Otherwise, it is as advertised with vivid colors, which offer a great conversation piece. It fits in the palm of your hand, and both the front and rear pockets work fine.
The name Flowfold comes from layers of rock that fold smoothly over time without breaking. To the company, that represents strength and flexibility, which are offered by their products.
The final score of the Flowfold sailcloth is 4 for quality, the durability of the material guarantees it can take abuse and lasts a long time; price scores a 3, features score a 3 as well, it does what it is supposed to; usability gets a 3 because of that concern about a card slipping out; perception scores a 5, the recycled nature of this product is very appreciated in the throwaway world that we live in. That gives us a final score of 3.6 out of 5.
Thin as a credit card and so light it floats, Flowfold's Recycled Sailcloth Minimalist Card Holder wallet is what they do best. Slim, light, and simplistic perfection.
