The Finnigan wallet depicts elegance and simplicity, the features aspire by the owner-operator of the Lost Dutchman, Nate. The owner is 21 years old and makes his products by hand including all the production steps consisting of cutting and sewing…etc. The package contains a cotton bag and the wallet. In this review the wallet is of a russet color with glazed harness leather. The material is pleasant, looks nice, and has a satisfying smell.
The production process requires a very intensive manual operation, which is exhibited in the quality presented in the stitching, the finishing, and the edges. On the ground of all of this, it is fair to say that the owner is behind all of the Lost Dutchman Leather craftsmanship.
The Finnigan wallet is slim with a vertical card holder. The wallet front is equipped with a flap hold feature that provides security. The main component to this wallet is being a card holder with an interior slot. Not only can it fit cards, but it is a little wider with some depth to it which is certainly an advantage, as it can accommodate double-folded cash as well. When the wallet is closed, the contents are secured.
In regards to the card and cash insertion, the test was performed with five cards and three slips of cash. The inserted amount seems reasonable, however, the company states that the wallet can hold up to 10 cards and some folded cash.
From a quality perspective, it is designed and handmade in the United States by Nate. It’s made from full-grain and vegetable tanned Wickett & Craig glazed harness leather. The reviewed item is about three and a half ounce weight of leather. The edges are slightly burnished and the result looks natural with no addition of dye. Obviously, the product is waxed and saddle stitched to implement durability. The burnish aspect adds a nice slick feel and indicates, of course, that it is finished, which is what customers are looking for.
It’s equipped with one slot that gives the option to place cards, cash, coins, or anything fittable. The flap provides safety, preventing items like coins or keys, or other small objects from falling out. It is located underneath the strap and is very tight. Looking at the wallet, It seems that it could be possible to place a quick access card in the front, which, with just one tap should work fine if it is the predominant card. However, the issue might present later when the wallet stretches. Nevertheless, with a new one, this seems to be convenient and the card seems to remain safely in place, which is a useful additional feature.
The wallet measures 3.6 x 2.6 x 0.6 and weighs 20 grams, which is fairly light. From a perception perspective, the wallet offers a precise fit of cards to its width. When the cards are in place, they immerse into the dedicated space and adjust nicely.
The Lost Dutchman Finnigan wallet final score receives a 5 for the quality, 3 for the price, 3 for the features, 3 for the usability, and 5 for the perception, giving it a decent score of 3.9 out of 5. Being a fan of Lost Dutchman, this product offers what a wallet should be with all handmade features.
