Today we are going to review the SlimFold. This is the micro soft shell version. It comes to us in a Cellophane package which also includes some background information on how to take care of it. This wallet is super, super thin.
Now for a feature review of the SlimFold soft shell. It is a very thin, slim bi-fold wallet. The SlimFold tries to live up to its name. It is designed around a very small footprint concept. When we open it up we immediately have two quick access card slots on the right which are cut out of the material. On the left hand side we have a quick access, but it’s really for an ID window. The interior is where we have our billfold pocket slot where you can put cards or additional cash if you would like. Behind it we have some plastic and behind the plastic is yet another card slot on the left interior rear card slot. We have the exact same thing on the right hand side. Therefore you have card slots in the rear in addition to quick access cards here in the front.
Now for the card and cash insertion test. The company indicates you can hold 8 to 12 cards. We were able to get 9 cards and 5 slips of cash in there. I think you would probably choose to carry less if you were going with this kind of wallet. From a quality perspective, it is designed and made in the United States. The material is called soft shell. The soft shell is a blend of custom technical fibers, which gives this very lightweight and durable properties. It is waterproof. The wallet can be washed by putting it under cold water with diluted laundry detergent or machine washed on delicate cycle. It comes in both RFID and non-RFID, and I think I know which one you want to go for. It is very easy to use and the fabric is sturdy. It’s not rough to the touch and the plastic provides the needed rigidity since the fabric is so thin.
The measurements on this wallet are 3.7 x 2.5 x 0.01”. It is really, really thin. The company was a kickstarter company like most are, which helped them fund the minimum amount required to produce this specialized material for the SlimFold soft shell. It has a great feel to it and the wallet is really great. If you are into minimalism, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Now to the final score. For quality, a 4. Price, a 2. Features, a 4. Usability, a 4 and perception, a 3. This gives us a final score of 3.5 out of 5.
